Flori: An 8-Week Anxiety & Self-Esteem Therapy Program for Girls & Young Women
For teens and young women (ages 14–24) who are hard on themselves, overthink everything, struggle with anxiety, and don’t feel sure of who they are. 8 individual therapy sessions available virtually across Ontario and in-person in Toronto.
You can see her struggling. You just don't know how to help.
Or you’re the one struggling, and you’re tired of pretending you’re not.
She might be doing well in school. She might still laugh with her friends. From the outside, things can look okay. But underneath, she may be dealing with anxiety, constant self-doubt, and a mind that rarely slows down.
- She replays conversations, sure she said something wrong
- She compares herself to everyone she sees on Instagram, on TikTok, and in person
- She's harder on herself than she'd ever be on a friend
- She apologizes for taking up space, for needing things, for having opinions
- She feels anxious or overwhelmed easily, then shuts down, avoids things, or keeps it all to herself
- She ties her worth to her grades, her body, or whether other people approve
If any of that landed, you're paying attention. That's the right place to start.
Most girls don't say "I'm struggling with my self-esteem" out loud.
It usually shows up underneath the surface. In overthinking. In self-doubt. In perfectionism, and in the constant comparison that comes with growing up on social media.
Left unaddressed, these patterns often grow into bigger struggles later on: anxiety, depression, perfectionism, disordered eating, relationship difficulties, burnout, and people-pleasing that follows her into work and dating.
The good news is they’re workable. With the right support, these patterns can shift earlier than most parents realize, and the shifts can hold.
Flori is designed to interrupt these patterns earlier, while there's still room to build something different.
The Program
What is the Flori Program?
Flori is a structured, 8-session therapy program designed for teen girls and young women ages 14 to 24. Each session is 50 minutes, one-to-one with a Flori-trained therapist, and built around a clear roadmap that moves from understanding the inner critic to actually living differently with it.
The program draws on the same evidence-based approaches your therapist would already use in regular therapy: CBT, DBT-informed skills, attachment and relational therapy, self-compassion work, narrative therapy, and values-based approaches. These are woven into a sequence designed specifically for identity, confidence, and emotional resilience at this stage of life.
- 8 individual sessions, 50 minutes each
- One-to-one with a Flori-trained therapist
- Virtual across Ontario or in-person in Toronto
- Pre- and post-program measures help track real shifts in self-esteem, anxiety, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Pay one session at a time, with the option to pause or end whenever you need to
- If you have health benefits and have coverage for Registered Social Workers and/or Registered Psychotherapists then you will have coverage for these individual therapy sessions

The Path Forward
The 8-Week Flori Journey
The program moves through three phases, each building on the last. Pre- and post-program measures help track real shifts in anxiety, self-esteem, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
01
Weeks 1 & 2
Understanding Her Inner World
This phase builds awareness: what she’s actually feeling, where her self-criticism comes from, and how comparison and shame have been shaping her.
- Establishing where her self-esteem is right now
- Understanding her self-criticism, where it lives and where it came from
- Looking at how comparison and shame have been shaping her
- Mapping her sense of identity and who she's becoming
- Pay one session at a time, with the option to pause or end whenever you need to
This phase often brings real clarity, for participants and for parents.
02
Weeks 3 to 5
Rebuilding Identity & Self-Worth
Once she can see the patterns, the work becomes about gently rewriting them.
- Mapping her values and strengths, separate from what others expect
- Rewriting the inner narrative she's been carrying
- Working with boundaries and people-pleasing patterns
- Building self-compassion that holds up under pressure
03
Weeks 6 to 8
Confidence in Action
The final phase is about practising in real life. The relationships she’s actually in. The school she’s actually attending. The version of herself she’s actually becoming.
- Emotional regulation and anxiety-management tools she can actually use when she feels overwhelmed, worried, or stuck
- Confidence in friendships, dating, and family relationships
- Reducing perfectionism and the urge to over-control
- A personal action plan she takes with her when the program ends
Clinically Grounded
The Approaches Behind Flori
Flori draws on evidence-based approaches we use every day in clinical practice, structured into a sequence designed specifically for this age group:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
To work with the thoughts driving self-criticism and self-doubt.
DBT-Informed Skills
Emotion regulation and coping skills to handle overwhelm and big feelings.
Self-Compassion & Strengths-Based Work
To soften the inner critic and find what’s already there to build on.
Attachment & Relational Therapy
To understand how relationships are shaping who she’s becoming.
Narrative Therapy
To separate identity from the stories she’s been telling herself.
Values-Based Approaches
To help her make decisions that actually feel like hers.
This blend lets Flori address both self-esteem and anxiety in a way that is deeply therapeutic and genuinely practical: tools that work in session, and tools that help her manage everyday pressure, uncertainty, and self-doubt.
The Difference
Why Flori Works
Self-esteem rarely shifts from a single conversation. It shifts from consistent, structured work over time, with someone who knows what to look for.
Structured, not freeform
Every session has a focus, but the work stays tailored to her. Structure makes progress measurable. Flexibility makes it actually fit her life.
Built for ages 14 to 24
A developmentally important window. Old enough to feel everything, young enough that change can happen without years of unlearning.
Therapy, not coaching
Flori is delivered by Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Social Workers trained in the program. That means clinical depth, not just confidence content.
Why "therapy, not coaching" actually matters
There’s a lot of self-esteem and confidence content marketed to teen girls and young women right now. Coaching programs, online courses, group memberships, and influencer-led content. Some of it is helpful. Most of it isn’t regulated.
Flori is therapy. That distinction shows up in real ways:
A confidence program can teach a girl what to say to herself. Therapy helps her work out why she hasn’t been able to believe it yet.
- Insurance coverage through your benefits plan, the same as a regular therapy session
- Regulated care under the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Clinical depth to hold whatever else surfaces underneath, like anxiety, depression, body image struggles, relationship challenges, or family dynamics.
- Confidentiality protected under Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act
- Pre- and post-program measures to track real change, not just how a session felt
The Story
The Story Behind Flori
Flori was created by TPS Therapy’s Founder, Sarah Hurley, drawing on more than 17 years of clinical work with girls, young women, and families. Sarah spent over a decade at SickKids in their eating disorder day hospital program and mental health crisis unit before moving into private practice.
Across that work, she kept seeing the same patterns: a harsh inner critic, difficulty using their voice, body image struggles, and a slow disconnection from who they really were. She started developing therapeutic tools to help girls rebuild self-compassion, confidence, and emotional resilience earlier, before those patterns hardened into adulthood. Flori brings those tools together into a structured program designed to support real, meaningful change.
The name Flori comes from Sarah’s daughter, Florence. It reflects what’s underneath this work: the hope that girls and young women can build a strong foundation of self-worth and confidence early, one that holds up for years to come.

Questions
Flori Anxiety & Self-Esteem Program: FAQs
Who is Flori for?
Flori is for teen girls and young women ages 14 to 24 who are struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, self-criticism, people-pleasing, body image concerns, perfectionism, anxiety, or feeling disconnected from who they are. It’s also a strong fit for anyone in this age group who wants to build confidence and emotional resilience early, before the patterns get harder to shift.
Does my daughter need to be in crisis for this to help?
Not at all. Flori is both a healing program and a preventative one. Many participants join before things become more severe, with the goal of building a stronger sense of self, healthier boundaries, and lasting confidence.
How is Flori different from regular therapy?
Regular therapy is open-ended and follows wherever the work leads. Flori is a structured 8-week therapy program with a clear roadmap focused on identity, self-compassion, emotional regulation, and confidence-building. It combines evidence-based therapy with guided tools, reflection exercises, and progress tracking.
Will parents be involved?
That depends on the participant’s age and preference. With younger participants, parents may be included through consultation touchpoints, guidance resources, and collaborative planning where it’s appropriate and the participant agrees. With older participants, especially 18 and over, the work is between her and her therapist.
What if I’ve already tried to fix this on my own?
These patterns are deeply ingrained, and they’re often reinforced by culture, trauma, or years of self-protection. If you’ve felt stuck or like nothing has worked, that doesn’t mean healing isn’t possible. It just means you don’t have to do it by yourself anymore. Therapy gives you consistent support, fresh tools, and a compassionate space to do the deeper work, at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
Is Flori available virtually or in person?
Both. Flori is offered virtually across Ontario and in person in Toronto, depending on therapist availability.
What does Flori cost?
Flori sessions are priced the same as a standard individual therapy session at TPS Therapy. Sessions are 50 minutes, and clients pay one session at a time. While the program is designed as an 8-week journey, you can pause or end at any time. This flexible structure aligns with the standards of practice set by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Is Flori covered by insurance?
If your insurance plan includes Registered Psychotherapists or Registered Social Workers, Flori sessions are covered the same way regular therapy sessions would be. We recommend confirming with your provider before starting.
What kinds of issues does Flori help with?
Flori supports concerns including self-esteem and confidence, anxiety and overthinking, perfectionism people pleasing, harsh self-criticism, emotional regulation and overwhelm, identity development, body image struggles, self-trust and decision-making, communication, boundaries, stress and burnout tendencies, friendship and dating, confidence, and resilience during life transitions.
What outcomes can participants expect?
Participants often leave Flori with stronger confidence, healthier boundaries, more self-trust, improved emotional regulation, a kinder inner voice, a clearer sense of identity, and more confidence in relationships, school, and work.
How do we get started?
The first step is to book a free 20-minute consultation so we can make sure Flori feels like the right fit. From there, your therapist will walk you through what to expect.
