With over 20 years of experience, Avin brings warmth, depth, and clinical expertise to her work with children, teenagers, young adults, adult, and parents. She is specially trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy approach that can be especially helpful for ADHD, trauma, anxiety, OCD, overwhelming life experiences, and emotional patterns that feel difficult to shift through talk therapy alone.
Avin is especially passionate about supporting children, teens, and families through difficult transitions, conflict, and emotional overwhelm. She provides both individual therapy and parenting support, helping caregivers better understand their child’s needs, strengthen connection, and respond more confidently to behavioural challenges, emotional dysregulation, school concerns, co-parenting stress, and communication breakdowns.
She has extensive experience helping clients navigate stress, anxiety, identity development, teen issues, addiction, women’s issues, family conflict, life transitions, and challenges that arise throughout the lifespan. Her work with children and adolescents is grounded in a deep understanding that young people often communicate distress through behaviour, emotion, and relationships, and she helps families make sense of these patterns with compassion and clarity.
Her therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and deeply client-centred. Avin creates a safe, non-judgmental space where children, teens, young adults, and parents can openly explore their thoughts, feelings, and patterns while building meaningful coping strategies and long-term resilience. Her work is grounded in solution-focused and strength-based approaches, helping clients recognize both what feels difficult and the strengths they already carry.
Avin integrates a wide range of evidence-based modalities, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Play Therapy. This integrative approach allows her to tailor therapy to each client’s developmental stage, personality, strengths, and goals, creating care that feels highly personalized and effective.
In addition to her work as a Registered Social Worker, EMDR therapist, and Positive Parenting Practitioner, Avin also serves as a lecturer, regularly facilitates workshops, and remains deeply committed to ongoing professional growth and best practices in the field.
Outside of the therapy room, Avin deeply values time with her daughter and family, as well as opportunities to reconnect with nature. These experiences enrich her perspective and strengthen the grounded, compassionate presence she brings to her work with clients.
