My Story

Kayla Patterson is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, as well as a Child and Youth Counsellor. She is passionate about working with tweens, adolescents, young adults, and adults who are struggling with any number of challenges including self-esteem, anxiety, depression, major life transitions, interpersonal relationships, and emotion regulation. She has worked for many years at the Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids) and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Kayla also has experience interning at the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma (CTSACT), in crisis support programs, community mental health agencies, and section 23 programs.

Kayla works from a trauma-informed and person-centred lens. Her approach is integrative to help meet each person’s unique needs and she draws from a number of approaches including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as well as experiential and attachment-based approaches. Kayla will often incorporate art therapy, somatic practices, and mindfulness exercises into sessions as well. In her spare time you can find Kayla cooking, reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family outdoors.
