My Story

Kayla is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) as well as a Child and Youth counsellor with over 7 years’ experience working with children, teens, transitional age youth, adults, and families.

Kayla’s passion for helping children, youth, and families has allowed her to work in a variety of settings such as community based mental health agencies, crisis support, the inpatient eating disorders and mental health unit at SickKids, and the Consultation Liaison Mental Health team at CHEO.

Kayla understands the importance of a strong therapeutic alliance and places emphasis on creating a safe, open, and non-judgemental space. Kayla works from a trauma-informed, person-centred, and strengths-based lens. Her approach is integrative to help meet your unique needs and she draws from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She will often incorporate mindfulness exercises and art therapy into sessions as well.

By attuning to your unique needs, Kayla helps view your challenges from a holistic lens and promotes open dialogue and safety. Building on your innate strengths and resiliency, Kayla is here to support you in your journey.
